Medical Talent Travel Rad Tech Saves Life After Omaha Man Suffers Heart Attack
Medical Talent is proudly recognizing the life-saving actions of one of its own. Travel Radiologic Technologist, Stephen Triggs, stepped up to the plate by performing CPR on a man suffering a heart attack during a local softball game in Omaha. Triggs, a travel Rad Tech saves life with his quick and skilled response.
According to WOWT News, an Omaha senior collapsed on the field mid-game from cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, Stephen Triggs was one of the first to begin chest compressions and rescue breaths. A few other bystanders called 911 and retrieved the park’s AED (automated external defibrillator). An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is a portable device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and delivers an electric shock if needed to help restore a normal heartbeat during sudden cardiac arrest.
“I knew every second counted,” said Triggs. “When I saw him go down, instinct and training kicked in. I wasn’t going to wait—I had to do something.” – Stephen Triggs
Emergency responders quickly arrived and continued care. Thanks to the immediate response of Triggs and a few other bystanders, the man regained a pulse. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Triggs is currently on assignment in Iowa through Medical Talent as a certified Radiologic Technologist. While his primary training is in diagnostic imaging, he has extensive clinical experience in emergency and trauma settings. He also keeps his CPR and BLS certifications up to date, equipping him to act quickly and effectively in critical moments like this one.
“We are incredibly proud of Stephen and honored to have him represent Medical Talent in the community,” Dromgoole added. “This story is a powerful reminder of the impact our travelers can have—on and off the job.”
